The case has eerie echoes of the Tom and Eileen Lonergan tragedy, the American couple left behind on a dive off Port Douglas in January 1998.

Yeah, thanks for the restaurant voucher and the near death experience. What's with Australian dive operators, leaving people behind?!
Note to dive operators: if you have that much trouble keeping track of who's on the boat and who isn't, maybe you're taking too many divers out to sea!

Good to see you Calvin! Hey I'm on Hawaii and see boats from the beach surrounded by divers and swimmers floating on noodles and often wonder if any are ever left behind. I watched that Open Water movie so I can imagine this man's panic. Maybe he'll order "Shark Fin Soup" with his $200 voucher.s/

Open Water 2 was a little better than the first one (save the muffin shot).
Shark Fin Soup is the devil - don't order it!
Aloha!

I've been on the "ban shark fin soup" sites too much I guess. I also think "canning" the person responsible for the mistake is good but not enough in a case like this. Another thing, what the heck was going on with the other divers? I count heads and get visuals whenever I'm with a group. Perhaps it is all those years of field trips with small children and sometimes ten of them with English as a second language. I guess I should work for that company because I wouldn't lose anyone. lol
